How can I tell you myself?  Let‘s see. Firstly, my name is Kübra. Yes Kübra. İt is hard to say I know because when a was a child, I couldn’t say “r” letter and I couldn’t even say my name correctly so I can’t be angry with those who can’t say my name.

Kübra means a big woman. It is an Islamic word. My grandmother, my father’s mother, gave me that name. She wants to give and ask my parent.  They accepted because this naming event is actually an issue. It expresses respect and love. Now this situation is slightly changed but it was different in past. In my childhood I did not like my name because Kübra is very popular name. In a group of people, there is at least one “Kübra” in Turkey.

As I grew up I realized something about my grandmother.  She was trying to make a bond with me.  I never saw my grandmother. She was dead before i was born. I think she felt. She knows that she will leave this world without doing what she wants because I read her diaries and she wants to be a big woman. She wants to achieve something and she imagined a world where women could exist more. I am trying to follow in her footsteps. I want to announce my voice to the whole world.

So I decided to choose literature. As I read her diaries I also wanted to write. I wrote something to every book I found. One day, when I was in elementary school, I got an encyclopedia and started writing everything I saw. I don’t remember how long I wrote. I wrote that so so much even now you can see the slight swelling of my finger. Then I began taking part in one of the best schools in Turkey. So I trust myself. I need that. I have achieved what she can’t and I will continue to achieve. I want to be a good writer someday. Maybe I will maybe I will not but it’s worth the effort.
