Lullaby
By Maryna Smahina on November 15, 2018
sing for me
lull me with songs
of the high seas;
cradle me
like a train
going through the coasts
of blue Greece;
be a mantra
with neither beginning nor end
chant me a song of a mermaid
telling about my fate.
cradle me softly
and gently
like the waves in the ocean would do
like the swings from the childhood
you never knew
like those in the green yards
flying so high;
sing for me dear
be my lullaby.
tell me the stories
from all over the place
about Baba’s robbers
treasures and far-flung lands
about fancy ships
battling the gales.
make my dreams soft
as your voice slightly fades.
