On names and acquintances
Is being a blogger defined by the way you present yourself to the audience? If yes, let me present myself.
Greetings, dear audience! My name’s Daria, I’m one of the representatives of Ukraine at ‘Write in Armenia’ camp, organized by ARI Literature Foundation and here is my linguistic portrait. There’s the thing about my name – there’s a bunch of dead people behind it and I have two of them. My official name is Daria Olena. Passport name. Name of all my seriousness, my creativity and my character. In Ukraine we also use our father’s names and with suffixes, so if you add it, my name is Daria Olena Andriyanivna. Behind this name are two Antic dudes – Persian king Darius (conquered the land
from Sarmatia to India, cool, huh?) and Handrian, Roman Emperor. If you go even deeper and translate them, you’ll get “Victor” ( old Persian “Darius” ), “Heavenly Fire” ( old Greek “Olena” ) and “the wall bringer” (I think, that’s what Handrian means).
So, let’s get acquinted.
Victor.
Heavenly Fire.
Wall bringer.
(No pressure, right?)
Also a blogger for everyone who’d like to know what #writeinarmenia is about.
I’m looking forward to meeting you as well.
Day 1 of ‘Write in Armenia’ camp. Stay tuned for more posts soon!
