Welcome to Write in Armenia International Writing Camp

By Arevik Ashkharoyan on November 2, 2018

ARI Literature Foundation is happy to announce the launch of Write in Armenia International Writing Camp for young writers!

We have initiated this project with the support of US Embassy in Armenia.  Foundation firstly worked with our great partner International Writing Program of the University of Iowa and used the Between the Lines program model to design the camp curriculum. Foundation has also successfully partnered with organizations in the camp participant countries to organize the recruitment and selection of participants. Our partners are Mystetskyi Arsenal in Ukraine, Georgian Publishers and Booksellers Association in Georgia, Kalem Kulture in Turkey and an Armenian based Cultural and Social Narratives Laboratory for our work with Russia.

Now we are excited and looking forward to host our program participants who arrive to Armenia on November 11th and will be transferred to the wonderful town of Dilijan surrounded by forests and covered by the mystic fog at this season. Dilijan Resort Complex will provide the best conditions for creativity and fun time to get to know each other. Our wonderful team of tutors, established talented writers – Katie Prout from the USA, Armen of Armenia and Aram Pachyan from Armenia, Lyubko Deresh from Ukraine, Dato Turashvili from Georgia, Asli Perker from Turkey and Alisa Ganieva from Russia will share their writing experience, teach creative writing techniques and help the students to get inspired all through their time at the camp. We have also invited other professionals for short lectures on theater by Vahan Badalyan, the director of NCA Small Theater and on photo story telling by photo journalist Nazik Armenakyan from 4Plus women photographers organization.

The participants will have cultural visits to breathtaking places around Dilijan, travel to the capital Yerevan for a walking tour in the city as well as a panel discussion with participation of visiting writers at Zangak book store.
